Following are brief biographies of the speakers involved the the A B C's of A D A Conference:
Sally Conway, U.S. Department of Justice
Sally Conway is the ADA Mediation Program Officer with the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. She is assigned to the Division's Disability Rights Section, which is responsible for providing technical assistance about the requirements of titles II and III of the Americans with Disabilities Act, investigating and, where necessary, litigating title I, II, and III complaints, and certifying State and local building codes. She also serves as Congressional Liaison for ADA and other disability-related matters. Holding Bachelor's and Master's degrees, she has worked in the fields of disability and civil rights for more than 20 years. Ms. Conway has conducted training sessions, workshops, and presentations on the ADA for representatives from the public and private sectors and people with disabilities throughout the country.
Robin Jones, Great Lakes ADA and Accessible IT Center
Robin Jones is the Director of the Great Lakes ADA and Accessible IT Center and an Instructor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. The Center serves the States of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin. The Center provides training and technical assistance on the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and issues related to Accessible Information Technology.
Robin has served as director since the Center's inception over 14 years ago. Formerly, she served as director of an independent living center in the Chicago area and as an occupational therapy practitioner at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. She has extensive experiences as a trainer regarding ADA for business, government and disability organizations. Robin has been actively involved in assisting business and government to meet their obligations under the ADA and is recognized as a key resource regarding ADA compliance.
Dennis R. McBride, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
Dennis R. McBride is a Senior Trial Attorney and former Supervisory Trial Attorney in the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's Milwaukee District Office, which investigates and litigates employment discrimination cases in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (B.A., Phi Beta Kappa), Princeton University (M.P.A.), and New York University School of Law (J.D.), he has served as a Law Clerk to U.S. District Judge Terence T. Evans (E.D. Wis.), worked for law firms in Boston and Milwaukee, and taught part-time at Marquette University Law School. Mr. McBride is active in civic affairs; among other activities, he serves on the State of Wisconsin Retirement Board and is Chairman of the City of Wauwatosa (Wisconsin) Civil Service Commission. He also is serving on a committee of federal judges and lawyers, appointed by the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, which has drafted model jury instructions for use in U.S. district courts in Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin.
