Preview: 2007 Professional Development Seminar Series

RFW offers members and other organizations and individuals involved in the rehabilitation community, professional development seminars (PDS). These half-day to full-day seminars include a lively blend of presentations, interactive activities, discussions on ethics and professional boundaries, best practices, and strategies for balancing competing principles, values, and priorities. In 2006, RFW members saved nearly $25,000!! That’s right, our PDS investors for 2006 saved $24,702 by signing up as investors for the seminar series. Our 35 investors for 2006 sent 248 staff members to the eight different seminars - and paid only $350 to send unlimited staff to the seminars!!

Have we caught your attention? We’re just starting to plan the PDS Seminars for 2007 and want you to have an opportunity to enjoy the savings again this year!! We’ll have the final schedule with all the details soon, but here’s a first glimpse at what we’re planning for 2007:

Teaching and Coaching Adults with Developmental Disabilities: Learn to create your own simple and practical activity specific assessment tools that can be used to decide what to teach, how to assess progress, and how to match your coaching efforts to individual learning strengths.

Succession Planning: As our workforce ages, many organizations are looking for their leaders for tomorrow. This workshop will look at how to ensure that there are highly qualified people in key leadership positions and how to plan for their future in your organization.

AODA and Mental Health: A growing number of the population has a dual diagnosis of addiction and mental health issues. Learn how to determine the best plan of action to work with these individuals.

Assistive Technology: As technology grows and becomes more of our everyday living, so does the opportunity for people with disabilities to benefit from assistive technology. Hear about some new products on the market, who they benefit and how to use them.

PDS investors will have the opportunity to send staff to eight seminars designed specifically for your staff. And new in 2007, a bonus ninth seminar sponsored by Tricor Insurance and United Heartland - Worker’s Compensation: Covering All Your Bases! - which will be held at Miller Park, followed by a Brewers Game!!
