Introduction
By Mike Kirby, Rehabilitation For Wisconsin, Inc.
Welcome to the first issue of the SCOOP for 2007. In the last issue, which was published in the fall, I highlighted the importance of making sure that you voted in the November election. Now that the election is over it is time to get involved with your elected officials. Legislators were looking for your vote in November and now is the time to let them know about the issues that are important to you. The state budget has been introduced and will be debated by the Legislature over the next few months. The two year budget will fund or not fund programs that you are involved in and the consumers you serve.
This SCOOP will give you information so you can be advocates with your elected officials on issues that are important to you. Remember your opinion and message to your elected officials can make the difference in what they do as your representative in government.
I hope you find the SCOOP helpful and interesting. Please feel free to send us your ideas and thoughts about how we can continue to make the publication beneficial to you.
