The afternoon portion would offer voluntary on-site oral screenings and individualized oral health education for consumers. Also, concurrent Train-the-Trainer for nurses on the oral screen process.

- Train caregiver staff to improve their skills in providing good oral care.
- Give guidance to individuals with I/DD to improve their own self-oral care.
- Increase knowledge of nurses concerning oral screening/monitoring to facilitate oral health triage.
- Presenters would include Community Integration Initiative staff. http://www.dhfs.state.wi.us/cii/Regions/swregion.htm.
Hosts would be asked to provide a meeting room which can accommodate about 20-25 people for the morning event and a private small room with an accessible sink for the afternoon event. Other needs include a screen for powerpoint projection, site contact person to coordinate with the presenters and local publicity/sponsorship.
To find out training being coordinated in other parts of the state, go to the Community Integration Initiative Website. The Community Integration Initiative is a Department of Health & Family Services program whose goal is to establish regional support teams who can assist stakeholders in their efforts to develop sustainable systems of services and supports at the local level for people throughout Wisconsin with developmental disabilities with a special emphasis on meeting complex health and/or behavioral health needs. The resource development will concentrate on the regional capacity to meet people's needs in these key areas: medical, dental, psychiatric/behavioral health, residential, vocational/day services, transportation, and housing.
