Focus on Transitions Part One - Introduction

In this issue of the Scoop, we will begin our two part series on Transitions. With each change, we must give up the protective structures which have carried us through and rebuild systems of support. These times of disruption may force us to test the limits of our ability to adapt. Transitions are a part of everyone’s life, but they can be particularily challenging for individuals with disabilities.

To be young again...so many choices, join us in taking a look at some options and programs for transitioning youth. We will also look at some programs and resources for adults with disabilities including our featured member Lakeside Curative in Racine who is in the process of launching a new day services program. Employment choices and changes create their own challenges...in this issue, get advice from the employment benefit specialists.

Make sure to keep a look out for the second part of this series in August, which will focus on transitions for older adults with disabilities. Change is a part of life and we hope this two part series provides some interesting options to turn transitions from unhappy endings into exciting new beginnings.
