The Family Care Consumers’ Legal Action Fund

Rehabilitation for Wisconsin is a nonprofit organization (501-c-3), which is serving as the administrative agent to raise money for the Family Care Consumers’ Legal Action Fund.

The tax deductible donations to this fund provide the means for the fund's attorney, Rock Pledl, to represent the consumers’ voice through legal actions, which may include filing appeals or a lawsuit to uphold consumer rights.

Q. Is there a financial obligation if a family member, guardian or provider contacts Mr. Pledl to discuss their situation?
A.There is no financial obligation for anyone to have a 10 minute phone conference with Mr. Pledl. Based on that conversation, he makes a decision about whether to continue to gather additional information. If he can’t help them, he points them in the direction of another advocacy organization. In order for an individual to be included in an appeal or lawsuit, he needs to see a pattern that affects a large group of people in one geographic area, which has the potential to become a systems case.

If it appears that there is a systems issue, individual consumers are not charged legal fees, because this fund supports Mr. Pledl’s activities.
